A private physician appointment changes three things about your care. Time, with 20 to 45 minutes rather than the average UK GP consultation of 9.2 minutes measured in the largest review of consultation length, BMJ Open, 2017. Continuity, where the doctor who takes your history also arranges your tests, interprets the results and writes any referral. And access, with same-day appointments by video, phone, in person or at your home.
Fees are plain. A phone consultation is £59. A video consultation is from £150. A same-day urgent in-person consultation is £220. A home, hotel or office visit is £450. For a longer in-person physician appointment, enquire and we confirm the fee in writing before you book.
A longer appointment is a different clinical tool, not the same consultation stretched. It allows a full history rather than a headline symptom, an examination where one is needed, and an explanation you can question. Your doctor orders blood tests where they add information, taken at the clinic and run at an accredited laboratory, and the results come back to the doctor who ordered them, explained in terms of what they mean for you. Where imaging is needed, it is arranged at a specialist centre with consultant reporting. Prescriptions are issued privately where clinically appropriate, and you can take them to any pharmacy. A referral names a consultant chosen for your problem, with your history and results in the letter, rather than an open note.
This is not a comfort claim. It is measured.
In 2018, the first systematic review of continuity of care and mortality, published in BMJ Open by Pereira Gray and colleagues, found that seeing the same doctor over time is associated with lower mortality. The association held across cultures and for both generalist and specialist doctors. The authors concluded continuity should be given a higher priority in healthcare planning.
Time is the other half. A 67-country review in BMJ Open, 2017, found the average UK primary care consultation lasts 9.2 minutes, among the shortest measured. The review linked very short consultations to polypharmacy, overuse of antibiotics and poorer communication. Ten minutes is enough for one simple problem. It is not enough for two problems, a review of several medicines, or a symptom that does not fit a template.
A private physician appointment gives you both halves at once: enough time, with a doctor who stays on your case.

Same-day means seen today, not triaged today. You message or call, we confirm the route that fits the problem, and you are given a time.
Phone consultation, £59. For a focused problem that needs advice, a prescription decision or a fit note.
Video consultation, from £150. For anything where being seen matters, a rash, a child’s temperature, a swollen joint.
Same-day urgent in-person consultation, £220. For a problem that needs hands on today.
Home, hotel or office visit, £450. A doctor comes to you, anywhere in London.
Longer physician appointment, in person. For complex or ongoing problems, several concerns in one sitting, or a full review of your health and medicines. Enquire for the fee, confirmed in writing before you book.
When a private physician is not the right route
A private GP service does not replace emergency care. Chest pain, stroke symptoms, severe breathlessness or a serious injury need 999 or A&E. Suspected cancer belongs on the NHS two-week-wait pathway, and where that is the right route we say so and help you use it. Anything needing hospital admission goes through hospital care. A private physician handles everything else, and tells you plainly when it is not us.
Free checklist: get the most from a longer appointment
Write down your concerns in advance, in order of importance to you. A list keeps the appointment on the things that worry you most.
Bring every medicine and supplement you take, including doses. A full list makes a medicine review far more useful.
Gather recent results. Blood tests, imaging, discharge summaries or specialist letters help your doctor see the whole picture rather than a snapshot.
Note your family history. Conditions that run in the family shape which checks matter for you.
Say what a good outcome looks like. Whether that is peace of mind, a diagnosis, a plan or a referral, naming it helps the doctor use the time well.

Frequently asked questions
How quickly can I be seen? Often the same day. Phone consultations start at £59, video consultations from £150, and same-day urgent in-person appointments are £220, subject to availability.
Do I need to be a member? No. Every appointment can be booked on its own, with the price confirmed before you commit.
Can you prescribe? Yes, where it is clinically appropriate. Your doctor can also arrange investigations, imaging and referrals, and will explain any costs before going ahead.
Will I keep my NHS GP? Yes. Private and NHS care sit alongside each other, and many people use both. With your permission we can share information with your NHS GP so nothing is lost between the two.
