Executive Health Screening for Men- Testosterone, Prostate Risk and the Cardiac Picture Most Screens Miss
Aug 2026
Ask most men in their 40s and 50s when they last had a proper testosterone panel, a prostate risk assessment and a full cardiovascular workup read together by one doctor, and the honest answer is usually never. A basic health screen checks cholesterol and calls it done. A proper executive assessment for men has to cover three things at once: the cardiovascular risk that is the leading cause of death in this group, the hormonal decline that quietly drives fatigue, low mood and reduced muscle mass long before anyone thinks to test for it, and prostate risk assessed properly rather than a single PSA number handed over with no context. The Wellness runs men's executive programmes from £3,495 to £13,995, built around your personal and family history. Fees appear further down this page.

The hormonal decline nobody tests for until it's severe
Testosterone declines gradually from the mid-30s onward, and the symptoms it causes, fatigue, low mood, reduced muscle mass, poor concentration and reduced libido, are exactly the symptoms that get attributed to stress, ageing or overwork instead. A single total testosterone reading taken at the wrong time of day, which is how most generic panels test it, tells you very little. A proper assessment measures total and free testosterone on a morning sample, alongside SHBG, LH, oestradiol and a full thyroid panel, because a low result can come from several different places and the treatment depends entirely on which one. Read on their own, these numbers are just data. Read by a doctor against your symptoms, family history and other biomarkers, they become a decision about whether treatment is warranted and what form it should take.
Prostate risk, assessed properly rather than reduced to one number
PSA testing is genuinely useful, and it is also widely misunderstood and poorly explained in most screening programmes. A raised PSA does not mean cancer, and a normal PSA does not rule it out. What matters is PSA read in the context of age, family history, prior trends over time and, where indicated, more specific markers or imaging. A properly built men's programme discusses this honestly before testing, tracks PSA over successive years rather than as a single snapshot, and arranges further assessment through a urologist when the picture actually warrants it, rather than either skipping the conversation entirely or triggering unnecessary anxiety over a borderline first result.

The cardiovascular picture that actually matters for men
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of premature death in men, and it is largely preventable when caught early enough. A serious assessment goes beyond total cholesterol to measure ApoB, the marker that counts the actual particles driving artery disease, alongside Lp(a), a genetically set risk factor worth testing once in a lifetime. Where family history or other risk factors warrant it, a CT coronary calcium score directly measures plaque already present in the arteries, identifying risk that no blood test alone would reveal. Combined with proper blood pressure measurement, an ECG and full metabolic markers including HbA1c and liver function, this builds the picture that a five-minute GP check simply cannot.
What it costs in London
Basic private male health checks with a testosterone and PSA test bundled onto a standard blood panel typically run from £150 to £400 with limited or no doctor interpretation. Mid-tier private programmes that add a full hormonal panel, cardiovascular markers and a consultation generally sit between £600 and £1,800. At the comprehensive end, programmes that combine full biomarker profiling, cardiac imaging where indicated and an in-depth specialist consultation run into four figures and beyond at hospital tier. [Note: verify current competitor figures before publishing — treat these as illustrative bands.]
At The Wellness, all figures are from prices.
Men's Baseline Assessment — full cardiovascular and metabolic panel, morning testosterone with SHBG and LH, PSA and doctor consultation, from £3,495.
Men's Advanced Programme — the above plus ApoB, Lp(a), extended thyroid profile, body composition and an extended consultation with a personalised plan, from £7,495.
Men's Longevity Programme — full biomarker profiling beyond a hundred markers, CT coronary calcium score where indicated, prostate risk assessment coordinated with urology where warranted, and an in-depth physician consultation, from £13,995.
Bespoke programme built around a complex personal or family history, priced at consultation.
Assessments are held in Marylebone, three minutes from Baker Street, with appointments available within the week.
Why The Wellness is the right clinic for this
Because a low testosterone reading, a borderline PSA and a slightly raised cholesterol are not three separate problems to be handled by three different providers. They are read together, against your history and your other results, by one doctor who turns them into a single plan rather than three inconclusive letters. Because The Wellness owns no imaging equipment, any scan is sent to the London centre best suited to that specific question and reported by consultant radiologists. And because it is a full clinic, anything found, whether that is a hormonal deficiency needing treatment or a PSA trend needing a urology opinion, is followed up by the same team rather than left for you to arrange.
Frequently asked questions
When should testosterone be tested, and why does timing matter?
Testosterone should be measured on a morning blood sample, since levels are naturally highest early in the day and a test taken later can understate a genuinely normal result. It is read alongside SHBG and LH to establish the underlying cause of any low reading.
Does a raised PSA mean I have prostate cancer?
No. PSA can be raised for several benign reasons, and it is interpreted alongside age, family history, trend over time and, where indicated, further specific testing or imaging, not as a single stand-alone result.
Do I need a CT coronary calcium score?
It is recommended where age, family history or other risk factors indicate raised cardiovascular risk. A doctor reviews this at consultation rather than arranging it for everyone as standard.
Is testosterone treatment offered as part of this?
Where a low reading is confirmed and clinically appropriate, treatment options are discussed as part of the consultation and managed through the same clinic.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can book directly, and a physician reviews your history and agrees the right panel with you.
