Why Choose a Doctor-Led Vaccination Service

The majority of private vaccinations in London are administered by pharmacists or nurses. At The Online GP by The Wellness, every vaccination is managed by a GMC-registered doctor. This distinction matters more than most people realise.

A doctor can conduct a thorough review of your medical history and current medications to identify contraindications that a pharmacist might miss. They can assess complex situations — for example, if you are pregnant, immunosuppressed, have a history of severe allergic reactions, or take medications that interact with certain vaccines. They can prescribe additional medications as part of your consultation (such as antimalarials for travel, antibiotics, or emergency medication) without you needing a separate appointment. And they can manage adverse reactions immediately, with the clinical authority to prescribe treatment on the spot.

For travel vaccination in particular, a doctor-led consultation means you receive a genuine medical assessment of your risk profile, not just a checklist of destination-based recommendations. Your doctor will consider your complete health picture, the specific nature of your travel (backpacking versus business hotel, urban versus rural, duration, activities), and any pre-existing conditions that affect vaccine selection.

Our Marylebone clinic provides a calm, private environment — a meaningful difference from the pharmacy counter experience. Every patient is treated with the time and attention their health deserves.

Travel Vaccines: Complete Protection Before You Fly

If you are planning international travel — whether a holiday, gap year, business trip, or relocation — a pre-travel health consultation should be as essential as booking your flights. Many destinations carry disease risks that simply do not exist in the UK, and vaccination is the most effective way to protect yourself.

The Online GP by The Wellness offers the full range of travel vaccinations including hepatitis A (essential for most destinations outside Western Europe, North America, and Australasia), hepatitis B (recommended for longer stays, healthcare workers, and travellers to high-prevalence regions), typhoid (strongly recommended for travel to South Asia, Africa, and parts of Central and South America), rabies (recommended for travellers to areas with high rabies risk, particularly those spending time outdoors, cycling, or in rural areas), Japanese encephalitis (recommended for extended travel to rural areas of South and Southeast Asia), yellow fever (required for entry to many African and South American countries — we are a registered yellow fever vaccination centre), cholera (recommended for travellers to high-risk areas, particularly aid workers and those visiting cholera-affected regions), tick-borne encephalitis (recommended for travel to forested areas of Central and Eastern Europe, Scandinavia, and parts of Asia), and meningitis ACWY (required for travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj/Umrah, and recommended for sub-Saharan Africa's "meningitis belt").

Our doctor will assess your complete travel itinerary, recommend the appropriate vaccines and antimalarial medication, provide practical health advice for your destination, and create a vaccination schedule that fits your departure date — including accelerated courses for last-minute travellers.

Meningitis Vaccines: MenACWY and MenB

Following the March 2026 Kent meningitis outbreak, demand for meningitis vaccination has surged to unprecedented levels. Here is the current situation at our clinic.

MenACWY vaccine: This vaccine, which protects against meningococcal groups A, C, W, and Y, may still be available at our clinic. It is recommended for university students, travellers to sub-Saharan Africa, Hajj/Umrah pilgrims, and anyone who missed their routine NHS vaccination. Contact us to check current stock.

MenB vaccine (Bexsero): Due to the national shortage, we are currently operating a waiting list for meningitis B vaccination. Supply across the UK private sector has been largely exhausted following the Kent outbreak, with the National Pharmacy Association confirming on 18 March 2026 that most wholesale distributors have no stock and no confirmed resupply date. We are actively working with suppliers and will contact waiting list patients as soon as stock becomes available. Pricing starts from £495 per dose (full course from £990), reflecting the significantly elevated sourcing costs in the current market environment.

To join our MenB waiting list, contact us on WhatsApp or email and we will add you to our priority notification list.

General and Catch-Up Vaccinations

Beyond travel and meningitis vaccines, The Online GP by The Wellness provides a comprehensive range of general immunisations for adults and children.

HPV (Human Papillomavirus): The HPV vaccine protects against the strains of HPV responsible for cervical cancer, throat cancer, genital warts, and several other cancers. While it is offered free on the NHS to children in Year 8, many adults missed this programme or were too old when it was introduced. Private HPV vaccination is available for adults of any age who wish to be protected.

Seasonal flu vaccination: Protect yourself against influenza each winter season. Particularly recommended for anyone with a chronic health condition, pregnant women, and those over 50 — but available to all.

Pneumococcal vaccination: Protects against pneumococcal disease, which can cause pneumonia, meningitis, and sepsis. Recommended for adults over 65 and those with certain chronic conditions.

Shingles vaccination: Recommended for adults over 50 to prevent shingles (herpes zoster), a painful condition caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus.

Childhood catch-up vaccinations: If your child has missed any of their routine NHS vaccinations, or if you are uncertain about their vaccination status, we can review their records and administer any outstanding vaccines.

International Visitors and Expats: Healthcare Without NHS Registration

If you are visiting, working, or studying in the UK from overseas, accessing healthcare can be confusing and frustrating. NHS registration can take weeks, GP appointments are often oversubscribed, and navigating the system when you are new to the country adds unnecessary stress.

The Online GP by The Wellness welcomes all patients regardless of nationality, residency status, or NHS registration. You do not need an NHS number, a UK address, or a visa to access our services. This makes us ideal for international business visitors to London, overseas students at UK universities, expats and their families, tourists who need medical attention during their visit, and anyone relocating to the UK who needs healthcare before NHS registration is complete.

Our services for international visitors include same-day private GP consultations (from £49 by phone, from £79 in person), vaccination reviews and catch-up immunisations, travel health consultations and vaccinations, private prescriptions, blood testing and health screening, ultrasound and diagnostic services, and referral letters for specialists.

We can also provide vaccination certificates, medical documentation for university enrolment, and health clearance letters as needed.
