Hormone Test London: Testosterone, Female Hormones, Fertility and Comprehensive Hormone Panels
The Online GP by The Wellness offers comprehensive private hormone testing at our Marylebone clinic, covering testosterone, female reproductive hormones, fertility markers (AMH), thyroid, adrenal, and metabolic hormones. Same-day blood test appointments are available, with results typically within 24 to 48 hours, interpreted by a GMC-registered doctor who explains what your numbers actually mean in the context of your symptoms, age, and health. No GP referral is required. Whether you are investigating fatigue, weight changes, fertility concerns, low libido, mood disturbances, or simply want a baseline hormonal health check, our doctors provide thorough assessment and clear guidance.

Why Hormone Testing Matters
Hormones are chemical messengers that regulate virtually every major process in your body: metabolism, energy, mood, sleep, libido, fertility, muscle mass, fat distribution, bone density, and cognitive function. When hormonal levels are outside the optimal range, the effects can be profound, but the symptoms are often vague and nonspecific, making them easy to dismiss or misattribute.
The challenge is that many of the symptoms caused by hormonal imbalance (fatigue, weight gain, low mood, brain fog, reduced motivation) are the same symptoms attributed to stress, poor sleep, ageing, or "just life." Without testing, it is impossible to know whether a hormonal component is contributing. A simple blood test can provide that clarity.
At The Online GP by The Wellness, we go beyond simply reporting numbers. Your doctor interprets every result within the full clinical picture: your age, sex, symptoms, medical history, medications, and lifestyle. A testosterone level of 12 nmol/L means something different in a 25-year-old athlete than in a 55-year-old man on medication for high blood pressure. Context is everything, and context requires a doctor, not an algorithm.
Hormone Panels We Offer
Male Hormone Panel. Total testosterone, free testosterone (calculated), SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin), LH (luteinising hormone), FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone), oestradiol, prolactin, DHEA-S. This panel investigates symptoms of low testosterone (fatigue, reduced libido, erectile difficulties, muscle loss, low mood, brain fog) and differentiates between primary (testicular) and secondary (pituitary) causes. Recommended for men experiencing these symptoms at any age.
Female Hormone Panel. Oestrogen (oestradiol), progesterone, LH, FSH, prolactin, testosterone (total and free), SHBG, DHEA-S. This panel investigates menstrual irregularities, perimenopause and menopause symptoms, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), hormonal acne, excess hair growth (hirsutism), and general hormonal balance. Timing within the menstrual cycle matters; your doctor will advise.
Fertility Panel (Women). AMH (anti-Mullerian hormone, the primary marker of ovarian reserve), FSH, LH, oestradiol, prolactin, thyroid function (TSH, free T4), and day 21 progesterone to confirm ovulation. Combined with our Fertility Scan Package at £395 (pelvic ultrasound, antral follicle count, endometrial assessment), this provides a comprehensive baseline fertility evaluation for women considering pregnancy or preparing for assisted conception.
Thyroid Hormone Panel. TSH, free T3, free T4, thyroid peroxidase antibodies (anti-TPO), thyroglobulin antibodies. Investigates hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, and autoimmune thyroid disease. Can be combined with thyroid ultrasound (from £195) for a complete thyroid assessment.
Adrenal and Stress Hormones. Cortisol (morning), DHEA-S. Investigates adrenal function in the context of chronic fatigue, stress-related symptoms, and suspected adrenal insufficiency. Note that a single morning cortisol measurement is a screening tool; if results are abnormal, further investigation (such as a synacthen test) may be recommended via specialist referral.
Comprehensive Hormone Profile. Combines male or female reproductive hormones with thyroid, adrenal, and metabolic markers (insulin, HbA1c, vitamin D, B12) for the most complete hormonal health picture. Recommended for patients with multiple or complex symptoms.

Timing Your Hormone Test
Hormones fluctuate throughout the day and, for women, throughout the menstrual cycle. Testing at the right time ensures accurate, meaningful results.
Testosterone (men): Should be tested in the morning, ideally before 10am, when levels are at their daily peak. A low result on an afternoon test may not reflect true deficiency.
Female reproductive hormones (FSH, LH, oestradiol): Best tested on day 2 to 5 of the menstrual cycle (day 1 being the first day of your period) for baseline assessment.
Progesterone: Tested on day 21 of a 28-day cycle (or 7 days before expected period if your cycle is longer or shorter) to confirm ovulation.
AMH: Can be tested at any point in the menstrual cycle, as levels do not fluctuate significantly.
Cortisol: Best tested between 8am and 10am for a morning cortisol level.
Thyroid hormones: Can be tested at any time, though morning is preferred for consistency.
Your doctor will advise on the optimal timing when you book. If you are on hormonal medication (such as the contraceptive pill, HRT, or testosterone replacement), discuss this with your doctor as it affects result interpretation.
What Happens After Your Results
This is where the value of a doctor-led service becomes most apparent. At many online blood test services, you receive a report with numbers and reference ranges, possibly colour-coded green, amber, and red. But a number without clinical context is data, not healthcare.
At The Online GP by The Wellness, your doctor reviews every result against your symptoms, age, medical history, and the full picture of your hormonal profile. They explain what each result means in practical terms: whether your levels are optimal (not just "within range"), whether treatment is indicated, what the options are, and what the expected benefits and risks might be.
If treatment is appropriate, your doctor can prescribe hormone therapy (such as thyroid medication, HRT, or testosterone replacement where indicated and in line with current clinical guidelines), recommend lifestyle modifications that support hormonal health, arrange further investigation if initial results require it, or refer to an endocrinologist or fertility specialist for more complex cases.
Follow-up testing is arranged at appropriate intervals to monitor your response to treatment and adjust as needed.
Beyond Blood Tests: Integrated Hormone and Imaging Assessment
For the most thorough hormonal health evaluation, The Online GP by The Wellness offers the ability to combine hormone blood testing with relevant ultrasound imaging in a single visit.
Thyroid assessment: Thyroid blood panel plus thyroid ultrasound (from £195). Functional and structural evaluation in one appointment.
Fertility assessment: Fertility blood panel plus Fertility Scan Package (£395, including pelvic ultrasound, antral follicle count, and endometrial assessment). The most comprehensive single-visit fertility evaluation available.
PCOS investigation: Female hormone panel (including testosterone, SHBG, LH:FSH ratio, insulin) plus pelvic ultrasound to assess ovarian morphology. Combines the biochemical and imaging criteria used in PCOS diagnosis (Rotterdam criteria).
Testosterone and cardiovascular health (men): Male hormone panel plus Heart Health Scan (£495, including echocardiogram, carotid Doppler, and AAA screening). Low testosterone is associated with increased cardiovascular risk, and this combined assessment addresses both.
This integrated model is only possible in a clinic that offers both blood testing and doctor-performed ultrasound under one roof.
