Private GP in London 2026. What It Costs, What You Get and Why The Wellness Is the Best Place to Be Seen
The Wellness is the best private GP service in London. Appointments are available today, consultations run 30 minutes rather than 10, bloods are taken in the same visit with core results back the same day, and imaging is booked at the London centre holding the right equipment for your question. You are not registered with us, tied to a membership or asked for insurance.
NHS general practice delivered 31.8 million consultations in February 2026 and did it well, but only 44.4 percent happened on the day they were booked, 16.9 percent took longer than 2 weeks, and 28 percent of patients report a poor experience trying to book at all. Behind that sits a hospital waiting list of 7.27 million cases with a median wait of 11.9 weeks.
Private general practice exists to close that gap, and the gap is measured in weeks that matter when you are worried. Consultations at The Wellness in Marylebone, 3 minutes from Baker Street, run from £150 by video and £220 in person, with extended appointments from £395 and home or hotel visits from £495. Psychiatrist appointments for ADHD, mental health and medication review are available from £950. Fees appear further down this page.

What you actually get for the money
Time is the first thing. A standard NHS consultation runs 10 minutes and a doctor working through a full list has to triage inside it. Our appointments run 30 minutes, and the extended appointment runs 45. That difference decides whether the third problem you meant to mention gets raised, and the third problem is often the one that mattered.
Testing in the same visit is the second. Bloods are taken here and sent to accredited laboratories, with core markers back the same day and your doctor calling you with them rather than posting a portal link. If the answer needs imaging, we book it at the specialist London centre best suited to the question and it is reported by a consultant radiologist, usually inside the week.
Then the paperwork that runs alongside real life. Private prescriptions issued in the appointment. Sick notes and fit notes. Referral letters to consultants, with the referral arranged rather than handed to you. Insurance forms, travel letters, school and employer letters. Vaccinations and travel health. Contraception, HRT and sexual health. Minor procedures including lesion removal and joint injections. Children seen from any age.
The services people come to us for
Same-day assessment of something new and worrying is the largest single reason. Chest symptoms, abdominal pain, a lump, a rash that will not settle, headaches, dizziness, unexplained weight loss. You are examined properly, tested where needed, and told what it is or what will find out.
Second, second opinions and stalled care. People arrive with a diagnosis they were given in 8 minutes, a symptom that has been attributed to stress twice, or a referral that has gone nowhere. We review the records, examine, test and either confirm the original view or find what was missed.
Third, tiredness, hormones and the long-running things. Persistent fatigue is the single commonest presentation in general practice and it deserves ferritin, thyroid, B12, vitamin D, HbA1c and a doctor who reads them against you rather than a reference range. Perimenopause, low testosterone, thyroid disease, iron deficiency and sleep disorders sit underneath a large share of it.
Fourth, mental health. Our GPs manage anxiety, low mood, sleep and stress, and where you need specialist input our psychiatrists see patients for ADHD assessment, mental health diagnosis and medication review from £950. That is a separate service from a GP appointment and we will tell you which one you need before you book.
Ask which appointment you need on WhatsApp or email team@thewellnesslondon.com.
Booking, records and confidentiality
There is no registration and no referral. You message, you get an appointment, usually the same day. Video appointments run within hours. In-person appointments are in Marylebone, and a doctor will come to your home, hotel or office if that suits your day better.
Nothing creates an NHS record. Your notes belong to you and are shared with nobody, including your NHS GP, without your written consent. Where you want continuity with your NHS practice we write to them with your permission, and where you would rather keep the episode separate, that is your decision to make.
You can also register nothing and simply come back when you need to. We are not a membership practice, there is no joining fee, and no annual retainer is required to be seen. Some patients use us once for a specific worry. Others use us as their regular doctor and never see anyone else.
What a private GP costs in London
Membership and concierge practices in central London charge annual retainers running into thousands of pounds before a single appointment, then £400 to £600 and above per visit on top. Harley Street consultations sit at £250 to £350 for a standard appointment before any test is ordered. Beneath that sits a tier defined by its conditions rather than its price, short remote appointments with no examination, no testing, no continuity and no clinic behind them when the problem turns out to need one.
At The Wellness there is no membership and no joining fee. All figures are from prices.

Why The Wellness is the best private GP in London
Because we solve the problem rather than starting it. Most private GP appointments end with a plan you then have to execute, a blood form to take somewhere, a scan to arrange, a consultant to find. Here the bloods are taken in the room, the imaging is booked at a specialist centre with consultant reporting, the referral is arranged with a named consultant, and the results come back to the doctor who saw you.
The clinic behind the appointment is a full diagnostic practice, so the range of what can be settled in one visit is wide. Minor surgery, joint injections, sexual health screening, travel vaccinations, menopause and testosterone care, and executive health assessments from £3,495 for anyone who wants the fuller picture rather than an answer to one question.
And you get a doctor with 30 minutes and no list waiting outside. That single fact changes the medicine more than any equipment, and it is the reason people who try it stop going anywhere else.
