Private GP Membership in London 2026. What a Medical Membership Should Include and How to Judge One

A private medical membership is an annual fee that buys access to a doctor, and the best way to judge one is to ask what the fee actually includes rather than what it unlocks. The model that made the category famous is American. Sollis Health, which operates 14 centres across New York, California and Florida, charges from around $4,000 a year for its Signature membership and from around $12,000 for Platinum, and its members pay no per-visit fee for in-centre care. London has had nothing equivalent. Most membership practices here charge an annual retainer running into thousands of pounds and then £400 to £600 or more for every visit, which means the retainer buys a place in the queue rather than the care itself. The Wellness Membership takes the opposite approach. The annual fee includes unlimited same-day GP consultations by video and in person at 10 Portman Square, an annual Complete Biomarker Assessment covering over 100 markers, an extended annual review with a written plan, prescriptions, fit notes and referral letters, and a direct WhatsApp line to the clinical team. Imaging and specialist opinions are arranged at the London centres and consultants best suited to each question. Membership is available for individuals, couples and families, and for employers who want to give it to their people. Individual membership is from £4,995 a year. Fees appear further down this page.

What is included in The Wellness Membership

Unlimited GP consultations, the same day, 7 days a week. Video appointments usually within hours, and 30-minute in-person appointments with examination at 10 Portman Square in Marylebone. There is no per-visit fee, which changes behaviour in a way that matters clinically. Members come in when something first feels wrong rather than waiting to see whether it is worth the cost.

An annual Complete Biomarker Assessment covering over 100 markers, including apolipoprotein B, lipoprotein little a, HbA1c with fasting insulin and HOMA-IR, full thyroid with antibodies, complete iron studies and liver fibrosis scoring, which on its own is from £1,400. Blood collection is arranged at an accredited partner laboratory.

An extended annual review, 45 minutes, where the results are read against your history and last year's results, your 10-year cardiovascular risk is calculated, and a written plan is agreed.

Prescriptions, fit notes, referral letters, insurance forms and travel medication letters, issued without additional charge.

A direct WhatsApp line to the clinical team for questions between appointments, answered by people rather than a booking system.

Coordination of everything beyond primary care. Imaging arranged at the London centre best equipped for each question and reported by consultant radiologists, and specialist opinions arranged with named consultants through the Harley Street network with the appointment booked. Those third-party fees are charged at cost and confirmed before anything is arranged.

Home, hotel and office visits at a member rate, and family members added to the same visit.

How it compares with Sollis Health and London memberships

Sollis built its reputation on emergency-trained physicians, on-site diagnostics and no per-visit fees in US cities. Its members in London have nowhere to use it, because it has no UK centres. The Wellness Membership keeps the principle that matters most, which is that the annual fee pays for the care rather than for access to a price list.

The difference from most London membership practices is structural. A retainer followed by per-visit fees makes the annual cost unknowable when you sign up and creates a quiet incentive not to use the service. An inclusive membership makes the cost fixed and removes the hesitation.

The difference in how care is delivered is ownership. We own no scanner and no laboratory, so there is no equipment that needs keeping busy. Each scan goes to the centre best equipped for that specific question, and our advice not to test carries the same weight as our advice to test.

What membership is not. It is not insurance, it does not replace emergency services, and it does not cover hospital treatment. In an emergency, call 999. Where hospital care is needed, we arrange it and stay involved, and many members hold insurance for that part alongside membership for everything before it.

Membership for employers

For employers, the question is what reduces absence and what people actually use. Sickness absence cost the UK an estimated 148.8 million working days in 2025, mental ill health accounts for 41% of long-term absence cases according to CIPD, and the cost of an absence is driven by its length, which is driven by how quickly someone is assessed, investigated and treated.

Corporate membership gives employees same-day GP access by video within hours, in-person appointments near central London offices, and a clear route to diagnostics and specialists without the pre-authorisation and excess that come with insurance. It is simple to administer. The company pays one invoice a year and receives nothing else, with no clinical information, no results and no indication of who used the service or why.

Many employers use membership alongside private medical insurance rather than instead of it, since insurance covers hospital treatment and membership covers the fast primary care and diagnostics that decide how long someone is off in the first place.

Employer-funded medical services are generally a reportable benefit in kind, with a specific exemption for 1 health screening and 1 medical check-up per employee per year. The position for your scheme should be confirmed with your accountant.

Why continuity is the point of a membership

The clinical case for a membership is continuity rather than convenience. Most clinically important change is a trend rather than a single result. An HbA1c moving from 38 to 40 to 42 across 3 years is a person approaching the prediabetic range of 42 to 47, where the Diabetes Prevention Program showed lifestyle change reduced progression to diabetes by 58%. Each result is normal on its own. The sequence is not, and only a record that holds all 3 shows it.

The same applies to blood pressure drifting upwards across annual checks, apolipoprotein B rising as weight increases, ferritin falling in a woman with heavy periods, and liver enzymes creeping as alcohol intake rises. A membership that includes annual profiling and keeps every result in one place turns those drifts into early decisions.

Continuity also changes the unplanned day. When something acute happens, a doctor who already has your history makes a faster and safer decision than a stranger reading notes for the first time.

What does membership cost in London

At the top of the market, longevity memberships are reported at up to £25,000 a year, with press coverage of a £54,000 bracket. Sollis Health's Platinum membership in the US starts at around $12,000 a year and Signature at around $4,000. Membership practices in central London charge annual retainers running into thousands and then £400 to £600 or more per visit. Private medical insurance commonly runs £600 to £1,500 a year per employee before excesses and exclusions.

At The Wellness the membership fee includes the consultations, with no per-visit charge. All figures are from prices.

Why The Wellness Membership is the best medical membership in London

Because the fee includes the care. Unlimited same-day GP consultations with no per-visit charge, which is the feature that made concierge medicine valuable in the US and which most London memberships do not offer.

Because the most useful testing is built in. The annual Complete Biomarker Assessment includes apolipoprotein B and lipoprotein little a, which most panels omit, and the results are read against last year's rather than in isolation.

Because we are independent of the testing we arrange. Owning no scanner and no laboratory means every study goes where it is best done, and nothing is recommended to keep a machine busy.

Because it works for employers as well as individuals, with one annual invoice, no clinical information shared, and fast access that shortens absence.

And because it scales with need, from an individual membership to 12 months of family office care, within one clinic and one record.

Is there a Sollis Health in London

Sollis Health operates in the US, with centres in New York, California and Florida, and has no UK centres. The Wellness Membership in London follows the same principle that the fee includes the care, with unlimited GP consultations and no per-visit charge.

Is a private GP membership worth it

It depends on how the fees are structured. Memberships that charge a retainer and then £400 to £600 or more per visit make the annual cost unpredictable. An inclusive membership fixes the cost and makes early consultation easy, which is where most of the clinical value lies.

Can my employer pay for membership

Yes. Corporate Membership is from £1,995 per employee a year with a minimum of 10 employees, invoiced annually. The company receives an invoice and nothing else, with no clinical information or indication of who used the service.

Does membership replace health insurance

No. Membership covers same-day primary care, annual profiling and coordination of diagnostics and specialists. Insurance covers hospital treatment. Many members hold both, and membership does not replace emergency services.

What does membership not include

Third-party fees for imaging, specialist consultations and hospital treatment are not included, though we arrange them and charge them at cost, confirmed before anything is booked. Emergencies should always go to 999.
