Well Man Health Check London: Comprehensive Private Screening for Men
The Online GP by The Wellness provides comprehensive well man health checks from our Marylebone clinic, combining targeted blood panels (from £295), hormone and prostate screening, cardiac and testicular ultrasound, and a detailed doctor consultation. Men are statistically less likely to visit their GP, more likely to dismiss symptoms, and more likely to die prematurely from preventable conditions. An annual health check is one of the most effective things you can do for your long-term health. All assessments are conducted by GMC-registered doctors with same-day results for imaging and 24 to 48-hour turnaround for blood tests. No NHS referral or registration is required.

Why Men's Health Screening Matters
The statistics on men's health in the UK are stark. Men die on average 3.7 years earlier than women. Heart disease is the leading cause of death in UK men, with many cases preventable through early detection and management of risk factors. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, with over 52,000 new cases per year. Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15 to 49. And yet men are far less likely than women to visit their GP or engage with preventative healthcare.
Many of the conditions that kill men are detectable years before they cause symptoms. High blood pressure has no symptoms until it damages the heart, kidneys, or brain. High cholesterol has no symptoms until it causes a heart attack or stroke. Type 2 diabetes develops silently for years. Prostate cancer in its early stages is asymptomatic. Low testosterone causes vague symptoms (fatigue, low mood, reduced motivation) that men often attribute to ageing or stress rather than investigating.
A well man health check identifies these conditions at the stage where intervention is most effective and least invasive. It is not about finding problems. It is about finding them early enough to do something about them.
Our Men's Health Screening Options
Men's Health Blood Panel (from £295). Comprehensive blood testing covering full blood count, liver function (ALT, AST, GGT, bilirubin, albumin), kidney function (creatinine, urea, eGFR, electrolytes), lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides), diabetes markers (HbA1c, fasting glucose), thyroid function (TSH, free T4), iron studies (ferritin, serum iron), vitamin D, vitamin B12, inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR), and uric acid (gout screening). PSA can be added for men over 40. A male hormone panel (total testosterone, free testosterone, SHBG, LH, FSH, oestradiol, prolactin, DHEA-S, cortisol) is available for men with symptoms suggestive of hormonal imbalance. A 30-minute doctor consultation is included to review all results.
Heart Health Scan (£495). Combines echocardiogram (cardiac ultrasound), carotid Doppler (assessing blood flow in the neck arteries that supply the brain), and abdominal aortic aneurysm screening. All performed by a GMC-registered doctor with same-day results. Recommended for men over 40, those with a family history of heart disease or stroke, men with high blood pressure or cholesterol, smokers, and anyone concerned about cardiovascular health.
Executive Body Scan (£695). The most comprehensive single-visit assessment available. Includes extensive blood work (40+ markers), full abdominal ultrasound, echocardiogram, carotid Doppler, AAA screening, thyroid scan, and a detailed doctor consultation with personalised health report. This is the gold standard for men who want a thorough annual health audit.
Testicular Ultrasound (from £195). Doctor-performed assessment of the testes and scrotum for any lump, swelling, pain, or structural abnormality. Same-day results. Any testicular change should be investigated without delay.

Testosterone: When to Test and What It Means
Testosterone is essential for energy, mood, muscle mass, bone density, libido, and general wellbeing in men. Levels naturally decline with age, approximately 1 to 2% per year from age 30, but symptomatic deficiency can occur at any age and is more common than many men realise.
Symptoms that warrant testosterone testing include persistent fatigue that does not improve with rest, reduced libido or erectile difficulties, loss of muscle mass or strength, increased abdominal body fat, low mood, irritability, or depression, poor concentration and brain fog, reduced motivation and drive, and sleep disturbance.
A blood test for total testosterone, free testosterone, and SHBG (sex hormone-binding globulin), combined with LH and FSH (which help determine whether low testosterone is caused by the testes themselves or by the pituitary gland), provides a clear diagnostic picture.
Importantly, testosterone results must be interpreted by a doctor who considers your symptoms, age, medical history, and overall clinical picture. A number on a lab report means little without clinical context. At The Online GP by The Wellness, your doctor will explain your results, discuss whether treatment is indicated, and outline the options if it is.
Prostate Health: PSA Testing and What You Should Know
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the UK, with over 52,000 new diagnoses per year (Cancer Research UK, 2025). Most cases are slow-growing and treatable, particularly when detected early. However, the NHS does not offer routine prostate screening to all men, and the PSA test, while useful, has well-documented limitations that patients should understand.
PSA (prostate-specific antigen) is a protein produced by the prostate. Elevated levels can indicate prostate cancer, but can also be caused by benign prostate enlargement (BPH), prostatitis (prostate infection or inflammation), recent ejaculation, vigorous exercise, or urinary tract infection. This means a raised PSA does not necessarily mean cancer, and a normal PSA does not guarantee the absence of cancer.
Despite these limitations, PSA testing remains a valuable screening tool when used appropriately and when results are interpreted by a doctor who can assess them in context. At The Online GP by The Wellness, your doctor will discuss the benefits and limitations of PSA testing before the test, explain your results in the context of your age, symptoms, and risk factors, and recommend appropriate next steps, which may include monitoring, further blood tests, MRI referral, or specialist urology referral as indicated.
PSA testing is generally recommended for men over 50, or men over 40 with risk factors (Black ethnicity, family history of prostate cancer). If you are concerned about prostate health at any age, discuss it with your doctor.
Cardiac Health: The Biggest Risk Men Face
Heart disease kills more men in the UK than any other condition. One in seven men will die from coronary heart disease (British Heart Foundation, 2025). The good news is that the major risk factors, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, and smoking, are all detectable through screening and treatable with medication and lifestyle changes.
Our Heart Health Scan at £495 combines imaging and blood testing to provide a thorough cardiovascular risk assessment. The echocardiogram evaluates heart structure and function, valve health, and pumping efficiency. The carotid Doppler assesses blood flow in the arteries supplying the brain, screening for stenosis that can lead to stroke. The AAA screen checks the abdominal aorta for aneurysm, a condition that affects approximately 1 in 20 men over 65 and can be fatal if undetected.
When combined with blood tests for lipids, diabetes markers, and inflammatory markers, and a doctor consultation to calculate your overall cardiovascular risk score, this provides the most comprehensive heart health assessment available outside a specialist cardiology clinic.
